Komyoji Temple
Origins of Komyoji Temple
In 1243, the priest Nen'na Ryochu, the third founder of the Jodo sect, established this temple to commemorate Hojo Tsunetoki, the fourth regent of the Kamakura Shogunate, for his devotion to Jodo Buddhism. Officially called Tenshouzan Rengein Komyoji, it still serves as the main temple of the Jodo sect.
